This is an interesting assignment. I really like the ideas of making connections between what is being read and what has been read in the past. It was also interesting to hear what books your students had read that connected to the original story.
ReplyDeleteI also like the work-around you found by having the students post the code to a shared gdoc. That is brilliant!
Students, I enjoyed listening to your Voki's. Did any of you choose your Voki to reflect a character in one of the stories?
My name is Mattie Bearden. I am a student in Dr. Strange's EDM 310 class. I love this assignment! I have never seen a Voki before, but I love the way they were used here.
ReplyDeleteI watched several of the Vokis, but I was assigned to Miranda's. I really like her Voki; the cowgirl is adorable! In her connection, she related what she had read to another book called Warriors. I have never read this, but it is neat that she was able to connect separate stories, and further connect them to her own life.
Miranda: Don't feel alone. You don't have to have siblings to have the feeling of not being alone!!
Thank you,
Mattie Bearden
HELLO! My name is Kindra Blackwell. I am commenting as part of my assignment for Dr. Stranges EDM310 class. I listened to Katie's Voki. I have never heard of a Voki before. I think it is neat how the students can personalize their image. Katie, I know how it feels to start at a new school. I have been there. It can be hard, but once you find the right friends it will be much better!
ReplyDeleteHi! My name is Jameson Branch. I'm in Dr. Strange's EDM310 class at the University of South Alabama. These Vokis are pretty cool! Gillian, did you connect with the feeling of being afraid to go to school because you were afraid to go at one time? I was nervous when I started school at South Alabama. It was the first time I'd ever lived on my own and I was in a strange place with people I didn't know. Things have gotten much better, though. Now, I love going to school!
